WK21204 - Standard Guide for the Selection and Use of Wide-band, Low Temperature Infrared Thermometers
A rough draft is 80% complete. Thanks to Don H and Terry C for their help with Section 11.
There are portions of a few standards from the E07 Committee that are applicable for this work.
The plan is to use much of the wording in these standards for the following sections.
- 6.1. Methods of Determining Emissivity
- 7.1. Testing for Background Radiation
- 11.1. Thin Films
The appendices must be completed before the rough draft is completed. The proposed appendices are:
- Appendix 1. Graphical Summary of Equations for IR Thermometry
- Appendix 2. Effect of Emissivity Uncertainty
Also, if anybody has some more information on atmospheric effects on the 8 – 14 μm band, please let me know. Jerry Fraser of NIST has provided me with some info.
Meeting in Vancouver
Due to the economy, I will have to lead this meeting remotely. The meeting will be on May 18 from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM PDT (that’s 3:45 PM to 4:45 PM EDT). This meeting will take place via Web-Ex.
